Early in Jeremy’s career he devoted himself to natural history, working on BBC Wildlife on One specials under his brother, Trevor de Kock (Pelican Pictures), and Attenborough’s The Private Life of Plants, before directing and filming his own program for BBC’s Animal Zone. He then filmed and edited Capturing The Mountain Of The Sea, an amusing insight into the crazy life of wildlife filmmaking. "I prefer to capture real-life situational drama, be it human or wildlife. To capture a unique moment beats every time trying to re-enact or set up a scene."
His most acclaimed project, The Whale Induna, is an amazing true-life event, which kept developing during the course of a year and a half of filming. This remarkable film reveals the relationship between a man and a whale, from his unusual marriage at sea to his tragic self-foreseen death. "This was the story of a life-time to capture - perhaps my biggest problem is trying to convince the public that this really happened and that it is not just a re-enacted fantasy!"
The Whale Induna went on to win a Finalist Award at the International Wildlife Film Festival, an Adjudicator’s Special Mention Award at the Apollo Film Festival, a Craft Stone Award, a Silver Stone Award and the Tonights “Pick of the week”.
